Frank Gehry's Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Gets Put on Pause, Wall Street Journal Reviews the Art of Occupy Wall Street, and More Must-Read Art News - ARTINFO.com

Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Will Have to Wait: The construction of the Frank Gehry-designed Guggenheim museum on Saadiyat Island, Abu Dhabi, has been put on hold after the emirate's decision not to award the building contract. The Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) has told the 11 contractors who submitted bids that it is returning the money — AED20,000 ($5,444) — they paid as part of the tender process. The company has said in a statement that the project is not canceled; reclamation and design of the seawall have been completed, and "the art collection continues to grow." (The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi project has been plagued for months by allegations of poor labor conditions for workers.) Originally scheduled for 2013, the Abu Dhabi Gugg is now due for completion in 2015. [TAN]
