Christie’s 8th October Oriental Rugs and Carpets sale will offer a wide variety of weavings from important classical collectors’ pieces to fine furnishing carpets. The Vanderbilt Mughal ‘Star-Lattice’ Carpet, one of the most beautiful and exceptional classical carpets, leads the sale and is one of the highlights of the Autumn Islamic Art Week. The sale includes a number of important early carpets from eminent private collections, a rare group of Beshir prayer rugs as well as superb classical and 19th century furnishing carpets.
