Armenian American company warns of harsh Winter’s damage to oriental rugs
Cleaning oriental rugs should be on homeowners Top 10 list this spring
Minasian Rug Company is certain, fine rugs across this country are dirty. Rugs are collateral damage from the worst winter on record in 40 years. No different than the damage salt and snow reek on the under-carriage of cars, rugs are similarly vulnerable. What this means to all who have endured the worst winter is the biggest spring clean up. “Even when people remove their shoes in their homes, their rugs get dirty. But add salt from the sidewalks, pets stepping in slush, pant legs dragging through snow and salt and the end result is extremely dirty rugs,” said Armen Minasian, of Minasian Rug Company.
“Rugs pick up household odors, cooking odors, air fresheners and scented candle odors. These seemingly innocent scents create a film on the rugs. The rugs must be thoroughly cleaned so that the fibers aren’t compromised and broken down, which could lead to real rug problems,” added Minasian.

“In addition to cleaning, we also will repair, reweave, moth treat and appraise rugs for our customers if they require those services,” said Minasian. “Most rugs, depending on their needs, are back to the owners within two weeks,” he said.
