Results of Nagel’s ‘Rugs & Carpets’ 25 March 2013

The results of Nagel’s auction ‘Rugs & Carpets, Ethnographic Art’ on 25 March 2014 have been released. Among the highlights at this auction was a Medallion-Ushak circa 1750 which achieved a hammerprice € 36,000 (48,000 including buyers premium) compared with it’s estimate of € 30,000.

Lot 1, a Caucasian rug dated 1824 was a great surprice and achieved a hammerprice of € 21,000 (28,000 including buyers premium) compared with it’s far lower estimate of € 1,500. A souf silk Kashan carpet(lot 6), a Bulgarian Sarkoy kilim (lot 32), an Indian Mughal carpet (lot 33) and an ‘American’ Sarouk (lot 66) all achieved hammerprices above € 4,500.

Lot 89. ‘The Iten-Maritz Medallion-Ushak’, West Anatolia, circa 1750. 479 x 266 cm. Estimate 30,000 EUR and hammerprice 36,000 EUR

Lot 66, ‘American’ Sarouk, West Persia, circa 1920/30. 356 x 274 cm. Estimate 2,000 EUR and hammerprice 4,500 EUR

Lot 33, a Mughal prayer rug, India, late 18th/19th century. 226 x 137 cm. Estimate 5,000 EUR and hammerprice 5,000 EUR

Lot 32, a large Sarkoy kilim, Bulgaria, last quarter 19th century. 373 x 347 cm. Estimate 2,500 EUR and hammerprice 5,500 EUR

Lot 6, a souf silk Kashan carpet, Central Persia. 331 x 233 cm. Estimate 4,000 EUR and hammerprice 4,500 EUR
