Austria Auction Company’s recent carpet auction 15 March 2014 in Vienna went well with a total sale of € 760.158 including buyers premium. Circa 70 % of the 236 carpet lots were sold.
The top lot of this auction, a circa 1800 Yomut main carpet, lot 124, achieved a hammer price of € 45,000 compared with it’s estimate € 50,000 – 70,000. Other lots which achieved bids over € 20,000 where lot 169, a 18th century Azerbaidjan carpet with a hammer price of € 34,000, and lot 29, a circa 1700 Lotto rug which achieved a hammer price of € 24,000. The Azerbaidjan carpet and the Lotto rug were sold for prices above their estimates.
