A fine Persian signed Isfahan carpet is one of two silk carpets consigned to Semley Auctioneers by the executors of a deceased estate for inclusion in their sale of Persian and European carpets, rugs and textiles on Saturday 17th May.
The ground colour is an attractive pale blue with unusual pale green spandrels, and it measures 312cm by 203cm. Dating from the third quarter of the 20th century it is expected to bring around £2,500. Items are still being accepted for this sale and also the May specialist sale of Oriental and Islamic ceramics and works of art. Before then there will be a spring specialist sale of silver, jewellery and objets vertu, which will also include commemorative and military medals, on Easter Saturday, 19th April.
Enquiries regarding consigning items for sale or arranging a free verbal valuation, either at home or at the salerooms, should be directed to Karen Marshall at the main office.
