The book fair is regarded as a social and cultural event, with numerous book titles, panel discussions, and publishing deals. There are books on every subject from religion, philosophy, literature, art and architecture to the applied sciences, medical sciences, engineering, and technology, etc.
International publishers from around the world also attend the event. With around 160,000 publications, the fair is a good opportunity for different cultural publishers and organizers to display their latest titles.
Carpet tableaus
Iranians have been weaving carpets for ages. The oldest hand-woven carpet in the world, the Pazyryk carpet, comes from Iran dating back to over 2000 years ago. The exceptional Pazyryk carpet was discovered in 1949 and is held at St. Petersburg’s Hermitage Museum.
Today, carpets are an indispensable part of Iran’s culture, and every Iranian is involved with carpets one way or another. There are Iranians who design carpets, weave them, or trade them in business. And the rest purchase and appreciate them.
Carpet tableaus were designed by Iranian artists to bring this amazing art from the floors to the walls so that they could be seen and appreciated even more.
Sardroud, located in Northwest of Iran is the world’s capital of tableau rugs. With a population of around 32,000 people, the whole city is practically involved in the production of tableau rugs, producing around 500 tableaus daily in different shapes and sizes.
Qazvin Azad University
The Azad University of Qazvin is a private research university founded in 1992 and is based in Qazvin, Iran. The educational institution consists of nearly 27,000 students in 92 different fields of study. The university offers degrees at the Associate’s Bachelor’s, Master’s discontinuous, Master’s and the Ph.D. level.
One of the unique sections in the university is its world-renowned robotics department. The Mechatronics Research Laboratory was established in 2003, one of its main activities was participating in the International Robocop Competition. The University also has a section dedicated to solar powered cars that students build and enter in international competitions.

Tehran’s International Book Fair is held annually in the Iranian capital’s Grand Prayer Grounds, a 120,000-square-meter venue.
In its 27th year, the fair attracts 500,000 visitors a day, in over 10 days, with over 7000 stalls and 3000 publishers represented.
